Hsiao-Yu (Grayson) Chen

Grayson is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation. He started to work in AUVSL in Aug 2021. He holds a Physics B.Sc. and Photonics Technology M.Sc. degree and 6-year working experience in the industry. His research focuses on obstacle detection in outdoor environments, terrain classification for ground vehicles, and underwater perception using sonar-guided visual recognition. The learning-based algorithms adapt to the self-designed sensor module, including RGB stereo camera, Near Infrared camera, LiDAR, and acoustic sonar.
